Centre for Excellence welcomes new CEO

Deb has a background in advocacy, public service and human service delivery, including work within state and national homelessness organisations and as a senior executive in government. This experience will help to position the Centre to lead improvements in the lives of disadvantaged and vulnerable children and their families.

Deb is deeply committed to fulfilling the aspirations of Victorian vulnerable families to have more opportunities for their children, through continuing our work to put children and families at the centre of Victoria’s government, human services program and policy work.

Deb’s experience with human service organisations, peak bodies, business, philanthropy and government will be particularly valuable for the Centre to capitalise on opportunities offered by the Victorian Government’s service sector reforms, and national initiatives including the NDIS.

Angela Forbes, President of the Centre said “this is a leading position in the child and family services sector within an organisation that has a 100 year history of advocacy for vulnerable children and families”.

Victorian Commissioner for Children and Young People, Bernie Gearie, has welcomed Deb to the role, stating that ‘her extensive experience will provide the Centre with the leadership necessary to advance the cause of vulnerable children, young people and families’.
